How to Write a Professional CV?
A well-prepared CV is your calling card and the first step to getting your dream job. A professional CV is key to effectively presenting your qualifications. A well-prepared document makes it easier for the employer to learn about your skills and experience, and for you – to stand out among other candidates. Below, we have gathered universal rules that will help you create a clear, consistent, and substantive CV.
Job Advertisement Language
Write your CV in the language of the job advertisement you are responding to.
Concise Format
Try to keep your CV short and concise, ideally 2-3 A4 pages long.
Readability
Use a clear layout and maintain spacing between sections so that the information is readable.
Contact Details
Provide current contact details – phone number and email address (if you have one).
Work Experience
Describe your work experience in reverse chronological order, i.e., starting with your current workplaces, and remember to include the timeframes of cooperation. It is advisable to list key tasks and responsibilities under each position.
Highest Education
State your highest level of education and the dates of school completion.
Courses and Certificates
Include information about additional courses and training, as well as obtained certificates and qualifications.
Hard/Soft Skills
List hard skills (e.g., computer proficiency, software knowledge, Excel, foreign languages) and soft skills (e.g., communication, teamwork, management, conflict resolution, mediation, negotiation).
Language Proofreading
Thoroughly check your CV for linguistic correctness. It is a good idea to ask someone for additional verification.
